Our scroll journeyed from Israel where a sofer was commissioned to write it by the owner of the Israel Book Shop in Brookline on behalf of another congregation. The scroll was never purchased, so the owners of the Israel Book Shop kept it safe in their store for more than a generation. When we called to ask if they had any new, small Sefer Torah for sale, we spoke to the proprietor, Chaim Dovek, who told us about that scroll his father had commissioned. It was exactly the size we were looking for.
