Rabbi Kraus teaches torah at Simchat Torah

Simchat Torah 5783

Randy Gollub and Jon Hirschtick kick off our year of Together in Torah by scribing the first letter! Programming begins with the Social Action weekend themed “Together in Torah, Living Our Values” with a Teen Table Talk led by Amy Tananbaum, Social Action Shabbat with the presentation of the Jonathan Jacoby Tikkun Olam Award, and Mitzvah Day for our community.

As is the custom when scribing a new sefer torah, the original sofer left the final lines of Deuteronomy unfinished so that our congregation could fulfill the 613th commandment by writing those final Hebrew letters. We began this process on Simchat Torah (5783), when Randy and Jon held the hand of Sofer Yerman and completed the final letter in the Torah scroll, the lamed.
