Beth El Temple Center is a Reform congregation of over 350 memberships, affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. Beth El Temple Center is located in Belmont, Massachusetts and serves many surrounding communities, including Cambridge, Watertown, Waltham, Lexington, Arlington and Somerville. Beth El has a strong egalitarian tradition and welcomes Jews and their families who want to be a part of our Jewish community. Beth El Temple Center offers a place for learning and living Torah, a place to help repair the world, and a place to nurture your soul.

Together in Torah

We launch this Jewish New Year of 5783 with a new congregational theme centered around the shared experience of writing our own Torah. The Together in Torah theme builds upon the acquisition of our new Torah scroll and related programming, all made possible by the generosity of Randy Gollub and Jon Hirschtick. We will weave shared learning and rejoicing into many ongoing activities, and offer the once-in-a-lifetime experience of scribing a Hebrew letter into our beautiful Torah scroll.

Jonathan Jacoby Tikkun Olam Award Recipients - 2022

Beth El Temple Center’s Social Action Committee is delighted to announce the 7th annual Jonathan Jacoby Tikkun Olam Awards for adult and youth (under age 18).  This year's award recipients are Temple members Amy Tananbaum, Marsha Mattison, Audrey Brenhouse, and Ellie Carr.  A brief awards ceremony was held at the Social Action Shabbat Service on October 21st.  The program booklet includes brief narratives of the honorees’ activities, as well as a list of previous years' recipients.

Watch High Holy Day Sermons

The High Holy Days are often a time of reflection for many of us, our clergy included. As leaders of our congregation, they have the privilege of addressing the congregation in the form of sermons at each of the services. If you missed one of the sermons delivered by our clergy this year, or if you're just curious about what our Rabbis had to say, you can now watch recordings of the sermons online.
