Table Talk with David Weil:The Fissured Workplace and Income Inequality
Friday, March 22, 2019, 06:15pm - 07:45pm

Dinner and Table Talk with David Weil:
"The Fissured Workplace and Income Inequality"

Business restructuring and technologic innovations have fundamentally changed work and employment over the last few decades. As a result, employment has “fissured” apart. And, as in geology, once fissures start, they deepen and spread. The fissured workplace, the term coined by David Weil to describe these changes (and the name of his book on this subject) underlie the shifting of risk onto working people and growing income inequality in our economy.

BETC member David Weil is Dean and Professor at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.  He will iscuss what led to the fissured workplace and how it impacts workers--from low wage workers struggling to get by to newly minted college graduates. He will also discuss how government, business, and worker advocates can address these challenges.
