One Cellist, One Planet
Sunday, March 10, 2019, 03:00pm - 05:00pm

One cellist, one planet... is a one-hour concert performed by BETC member and cellist, Judith Glixon. It focuses on the urgency of climate change, encourages the audience to act, and supports organizations that are working hard to address this critical issue. The musical performance will be followed by a discussion led by representatives from the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Sierra Club.

As a member of the audience, you will find yourself plunged into the beginnings of life on earth, traveling through the centuries, and resurfacing in the present moment. The program includes music of Bach, Britten, and Ravel, and a short contemporary piece entitled “A Song of Our Warming Planet” in which the trajectory of changing global temperatures is depicted through music. Each piece is part of a larger whole intended to draw listeners into a story of humanity's relationship with the land, and inviting them to answer the question, “Where do we go from here?”

Judith Glixon's musical career includes extensive solo, chamber, and symphonic performances in New York, North Carolina, Arizona, and New England. She is also a climate activist, a licensed professional mental health counselor, and the mother of a 16-year old daughter.
