Food Justice: How Can We Get Involved?
Thursday, January 28, 2021, 07:00pm - 08:30pm

BETC Adult Learning and the Beth El Climate Action Team are jointly sponsoring this program. Join us to learn about locally grown food, food donation, and the connection between food and the climate crisis.

Temple members Terri Goldberg, Tim Carroll, and Julie Kremer will each lead a break-out group discussion.

- Terri Goldberg is actively involved with Beth El Temple Center’s Climate Action Team. She is the Executive Director of the Northeast Waste Management Officials' Association (NEWMOA) and leads their regional initiatives on reducing wasted food and combating climate change.

- Tim Carroll has been growing vegetables for most of his life, but for the last six years he has been growing them at his farm in Dudley, Ma. The 200-year old dairy farm he purchased is being transformed into a mixed vegetable and fruit farm that helps feed hundreds of people.

- Julie Kremer co-founded Food Link in 2012 by rescuing unsold fresh food. Confronted with the reality of good food going to waste, she recognized the synergy of delivering food to community organizations that feed those in need.  In 2019, Food Link diverted more than 3 million pounds of food from the waste stream.
