For a few magical hours the BETC Zonis Social Hall was transformed into a Middle Eastern bazaar. Our high ceiling was festooned with tent-like swathes of crimson and gold. The silent auction tables were laden with wonderful items donated by BETC members and local businesses. Hopefully, the pictures convey the feeling because it is hard to describe the beautiful space created by the decor and our community coming together for this event. Over 200 guests journeyed to our Spice Market and enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvre and desserts from Sofra while they mingled and placed their bids.
The Silent and Live Auctions at the May 7th event were a tremendous success, as were the Raffle and the Spice Rack. With a new online auction site this year, many people who did not attend the event (including several from outside our community) were able to bid on items and participate in raising funds for BETC. Combined with generous donations from our sponsors, the Spice Market Auction raised approximately $40,000 for BETC.
All in all it was a fabulous evening made possible by the work of over 100 volunteers who helped with everything from soliciting auction items to filling burlap sacks with beans, from selling raffle tickets to hanging swaths of gauze, from moving tables to passing hors d’oeuvre – it was truly a community-wide effort involving all ages!
THANK YOU to everyone who helped, who participated, who donated, who contributed, who bid, who talked it up and made it a remarkable success!
We are so grateful for all those who leant a hand on the night of the event!
