Come together with other members of the Beth El Temple community on the second Sunday of each month to participate in a community service project.

December 12 Making Scarves and Hats for Homeless Men and Women
Together, we knitted, sewed and crocheted 65 scarves! That means 65 people will be warmer this winter because of our efforts! Scarves were delivered to the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, Heading Home, the Somerville Homeless Coalition and Our Place day care for homeless children.
January 9 (first Sunday this month) Make a Meal for the Hungry
We will be making and serving Lunch for homeless women at Rosie's Place in Boston from 10:30 to 1:30 pm. We will carpool from BETC. We would like a team of 12 volunteers, but please note that Rosie's place requires all volunteers be over the age of 12. February 13 Folk Songs with Nursing Home Residents
We will visit Neville Manor Nursing Home and sing folk songs with residents there. We need singers and guitarists! Enthusiasm is more important than perfect pitch! March 13 Family Table We will be helping sort food at Family Table in Waltham and delivering bags of groceries to families in need.

The commitment is two hours to pack and deliver groceries. We need 6 more volunteers (individuals or families). Please contact Susan Bernstein at

May 15 Mitzvah Day 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Second Sunday Details:
- We usually meet from 1:45 to 4:00 pm.
- All ages welcome. Children under 14 should come with an adult.
- Gather in the Temple lobby.
- Some projects will be in Temple, others at locations outside of Temple.
- You can attend one Second Sunday or several.
- For the cooking projects, we will ask participants to donate $5 to help cover costs.
