BETC and the Adult Education Committee will be offering a new Me'ah Class, starting in the Fall of 2010. Me'ah is a program run through Hebrew College, and encompasses 100 hours of Jewish study. Fabulous guest teachers from around Boston come weekly to give a two-hour lecture/discussion on topics that progress from Biblical history to Rabbinics to Medieval and European Jewish history to modern day Jewish history in America and Israel. This is your chance to go back to school! The readings are fascinating, and the chance to study and explore these topics with fellow congregants is...priceless! We have had two prior classes here at Beth El and without exception everyone has found the course to be inspiring and rewarding.
The classes will probably start early October (after the holidays) and continue weekly on Monday evenings with 22-24 sessions per year for two years. The tuition is $600/year for BETC members and $750 for non-members (the cost of the class is heavily subsidized by CJP, which contributes over $15,000 for each Me'ah program so the tuition can be kept at an affordable rate). There may be need-based support so please contact us if you would like to participate but financial constraints would prohibit your attending.
Join us on May 27th at 7:30 pm at BETC for a "Taste of Meah" (click to see flyer).
