
BETC member Paula Lerner, an award-winning photojournalist, was part of a team that won an Emmy for "Behind The Veil," a groundbreaking in-depth multimedia feature about the lives of women in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The Emmy was in the New Approaches to News & Documentary Programming category and was presented at Lincoln Center on Sept 27th. On hand to receive the statuette were the four principals on the team that produced the feature for the Toronto-based Globe and Mail: Multimedia Producer Jayson Taylor, Photojournalist Paula Lerner, Reporter Jessica Leeder and Interactive Designer Chris Manza. The ceremony was broadcast October 9th at 8pm ET onC-SPAN. Other honors garnered by the feature include an Editor and Publisher/EPpy Award for Best Web Special Feature, and a Webby Award nomination for Best Documentary Series.
