Beth El Federation of Temple Youth (BEFTY) is our temple’s youth group for High School kids. It is where Jewish teens come together for fun activities and to meet other Jewish teens. We offer lots of terrific events throughout the school year. One of our most successful events has been the annual BEFTY scavenger hunt, which had a great turn out of twenty-five participants this year!
BEFTY events have included pumpkin picking, laser tag, iceskating, and Hanukkah parties. BEFTY incorporates Judaism into our activities by doing things like organizing creative services for the temple and lighting the Havdallah candles after events. Whether we’re collecting tzedekah before events or making pies to donate, BEFTY works hard to make tikkun olam (social action), a big part of our events.
BEFTY is part of a larger organization, the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and within the Northeast Region (NE). NFTY-NE brings teenagers together from temples all over the east coast and parts of Canada for events such as dances, conclavettes (weekend retreats), and institutes (three or four day retreats during school vacations). Jewish teens from near and far come together for Jewish learning and to make new friends.
We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event! For more information, please contact:

Madrichim Students in 9th – 12th grades are encouraged to become madrichim (teacher aides), assisting in the grade K - 4 Sunday classrooms. Some madrichim also assist in our Hebrew program. Being a madriach/madricha is a wonderful experience, an educational opportunity, and a great mitzvah for our community. Please contact the Education Director for more information.
