The Sisterhood of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), is a network of over 100,000 women around the world. WRJ/The Federation of Temple Sisterhoods is devoted to Jewish and humanitarian causes such as education, international relations including the United Nations, intergroup relations and a wide range of vital, far-reaching programs in the field of social justice and religious pluralism worldwide.
The members of the Beth El Temple Center Sisterhood invite you to join us. Not only is membership free to all new BETC congregants for their first year, it’s fun and rewarding as well!
We, women of the BETC Sisterhood, are involved in programs that:
- Strengthen our own Judaism
- Reach out in mitzvah to other women in our congregation and community
- Serve as a support system for our community including our youth (from pre-school through college)
- Provide useful information on a variety of topics
- Foster enriching, intelligent discussion
In addition to our fall membership dinner (held on October 6th), we are planning many activities for the coming year:
- Women’s film festival
- "Cooking Light" lessons by our very own Dianne Hartman
- Elaine Alligoode's program on doing your own health research on the web
- Debby Fenn's talk about organizing our lives as well as our homes
- Paula Lerner's photo montage on Khandahar
Sisterhood also leads a meditation group before Shabbat services, provides desserts for many Onegs following Friday evening services, has a book group, and co-sponsors other activities with the Beth El community. We hope you join us for one or more of these, or come to one of our open board meetings to help us carry out our mission.
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you in person.
