The Sisterhood of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), is a network of over 100,000 women around the world. WRJ/The Federation of Temple Sisterhoods is devoted to Jewish and humanitarian causes such as education, international relations including the United Nations, intergroup relations and a wide range of vital, far-reaching programs in the field of social justice and religious pluralism worldwide. We are the Northeast District, one of eight districts of WRJ, composed of 90 Sisterhoods representing approximately 11,000 from New York, New England, Ontario and Quebec. Our own Abby Fisher is the president of the Northeast District. To learn more about our region of Women of Reform Judaism, please visit www.wrjnortheast.org
The members of the Beth El Temple Center Sisterhood invite you to join us. The membership fee is $40 per year and free to all new BETC congregants for their first year.
We, women of the BETC Sisterhood, are involved in programs that:
- Strengthen our own Judaism
- Reach out in mitzvah to other women in our congregation and community
- Serve as a support system for our community including our youth (from pre-school through college)
- Provide useful information on a variety of topics
- Foster enriching, intelligent discussion
Our activities for the coming year include:
- January 30, 2011 visit to Mayyim Hayyim
- Cooking Class with Dianne Hartman (owner of La Bonne Maison) - details coming soon
- Sisterhood Shabbat on March 25, 2011
- Jenny Boston Fundraiser
- Regular meetings to plan events
Sisterhood also runs the second Sede, provides desserts for many Onegs following Friday evening services, has a book group, and co-sponsors other activities within the Beth El community. We hope you join us for one or more of these, or come to one of our open board meetings to help us carry out our mission.
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you in person.
Be sure to visit our online Gift Shop -- you'll find a wonderful selection of Judaica and you'll support BETC with every purchase!
