Social Action Committee Concert: Gypsy Violin and Klezmer

This concert, by award-winning violinist Yaeko Miranda-Elmaleh of the Klezmer Conservatory Band and Joe Reid, multi-talented pianist from Beth El Temple Center, benefits Adopt a Bubbe or Zayde, a program of  Action for Post-Soviet Jewry headquartered in Waltham, which supports 2000 elderly Jews in Ukraine and Belarus.

It’s time for the 3rd Annual Boston Jewish Music Festival

Do you love Jewish music in all its diversity? Then check out the Boston Jewish Music Festival. Performances occur all over Boston and offer endless choices to explore the tapestry of Jewish music. Events include: Songs of Shabbat, A Cappella groups, Purim Fun, Yiddish Art Song, Sephardic Journeys, Lower East Side on Parade, Israeli Funk style, Klezmer, and so much more. BETC Choir: It’s Purim time!

Join the fun at the two remaining rehearsals for this year’s Purim extravaganza. This year, we are doing A Chorus Line, so put on your tights and sweatpants, ballet and tap shoes (just kidding!) and join the Chorus Line. There will be two great songs (What I Did For Love and One) for the Choir to sing, as well as some great speaking roles. The 2 rehearsals are:

  • Sunday, February 26th -- 7:00-9:30pm
  • Monday, March 5th -- 7:00-10:00pm

Purim is Wednesday, March 7th beginning at 7:30pm.

BETCGLEE (Junior Choir)

The Junior Choir will be representing Beth El Temple Center at the 2012 Zimriyah. Twenty Jr. Choirs from all over the Boston area join together. Each group performs a song for one another and then the entire group sings as one giant chorus. Our BETCGLEE group will be represented by seven talented kids from 3rd to 7th grade. Be part of the audience on. This year, the event takes place at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley.

T’filah Band Brings Congregants together to Pray through Dance and Melody!

Our T’filah band (a 5-8 piece Klezmer-like band) usually plays on the third Friday of each month. In April, the T’filah band moves to Saturday! Join our band for the first-ever T’filah band Morning Shabbat Service. Try out a service that you may not regularly attend and enjoy the melodies, dancing, and creative worship that has made T’filah band Evening Shabbat Services so powerful and well-attended.

Congregation Shabbat Dinners going Strong

Join our community on the first Shabbat of the Month for a
Congregational Shabbat Dinner prayers which include Candle-lighting, Kiddish, Motzi, and Birchat HaMazon. If you need help with the prayers, there is a Hebrew and transliteration page for all the prayers, as well as a CD to help you learn these prayers at your leisure. We have filled all the spots for this year, so sign up now for next year’s leadership of the Shabbat prayers and join us for a pot-luck Shabbat with new and old friends.

BethElders Annual Concert Starring Cantor Fine & Joel Hencken

This year’s annual concert features Cantor Fine and his husband Joel Hencken in a tribute to the Ups and Downs of Love. All are welcome to hear both the sweet and the bittersweet moments, through music, that represent a couples’s lifetime. (NOTE: This is not an autobiographical concert!).
