What Time Are Shabbat Services?
Our services times for Friday evening vary over the course of the month, so always check here on the web site or in your copy of the bulletin to be sure you have the right time. Read on for the description of our First Friday series, our regular second week service, our Tefillah Band services on the third Friday, and so on. Our Saturday morning services always start at 10:00am.
Here's how our “First Friday” program works during the non-summer months. On the first Friday of the month, starting at 5:30 p.m., we hold our monthly “Family Shabbat Service” for families with young children. This short, family-friendly service includes a special story, wonderful singing and an opportunity to let kids feel good about being Jewish while still being free to act…like kids.
Following the Family Shabbat service, our entire congregation is invited to gather in the auditorium at approximately 6:00 p.m. for a dairy, pot-luck Shabbat dinner. This monthly dinner is be open to the entire congregation—a real opportunity for an inter-generational celebration of Shabbat. All we’ll need is you (and a dairy dish or salad for dinner!).
Following our monthly congregational dinner, at 7:00 p.m., we send our older students downstairs for the Youth Kehillah service. This monthly service gives students a wonderful opportunity to pray and to help lead a Shabbat service. Upstairs, also starting at 7:00 p.m., we hold our regular First Friday Shabbat Service while Youth Kehillah goes on downstairs. So, just to recap, it’s 5:30-Family Shabbat Service; 6:00- Congregational Pot Luck Shabbat Dinner; 7:00-Youth Kehillah downstairs and First Friday Shabbat Service upstairs. That’s “First Fridays”--be sure to join us!
In addition the our regular Friday night services at 8:00 p.m. most weekends, almost every month we’ll gather at 7:00 p.m. on the third Friday of the month to celebrate Shabbat with Cantor Fine, Rabbi Kraus and the energizing, inspiring music of our fabulous Tefillah Band. Many congregants describe these Tefillah Band services as their favorites of the year. Come join us to sing, dance, and pray.
So, what time are Shabbat services? On the first and third Fridays of most months, they’ll take place at 7:00 p.m. On most other weeks, Shabbat evening services will start at their familiar 8:00 p.m. time. And our regular Shabbat morning services begin at 10:00 a.m. (with Tot Shabbat Service downstairs starting at 9:00 a.m., usually on the second Saturday of the month).
Whatever time your service starts, we hope you’ll plan to join us to celebrate Shabbat and experience the warmth, inspiration, fellowship and joy of Shabbat at BETC. |
